Full Description

The SPE is a nonprofit membership organization which focuses on photography as a means of creative expression, cultural insight, and experimental practice. The SPE is based in Cleveland, Ohio and has nearly 2000 members composed of fine art photographers, educators, critics, curators, artists and historians. SPE’s programs and services seek to foster a broader understanding of photography by way of teaching and learning, scholarship as well as criticism. The SPE site contains information on members’ benefits like discounts on SPE conference rates, website access, the SPE journal Exposure, SPE newsletter and professional development. There is also a calendar of events including the 50th SPE National Conference in 2013, a much anticipated annual industry gathering participated in by artists, historians and “thinkers of photography’s past, present and future.”
