Light Factory Contemporary Museum of Photography and Film
The Light Factory prides itself as being one of only four museums in the entireUnited Statesdedicated to photography and film. Its mission is to inform, challenge and stimulate audiences through photography, film and other light-based media. Started as a Photographers’ Cooperative in 1972, the organization’s goal was to nurture a growing community of emerging artist-photographers as well as increase appreciation for photography as an art form. Afterwards, the Light Factory became a museum with special emphasis on exhibition and education. In the years that followed, the Light Factory held screenings for documentaries, narrative films, experimental films, animation and short films. Today it conducts darkroom and digital classes, large-scale photography exhibitions, digital video art showcases, photography and film-making classes and outreach programs.
